In these times when both the earth and its inhabitants face exceeding uncertainties, the Lennox Gallery proudly presents an international exhibition featuring Rashida Eli and Najmidin Azezi, Uyghur expat artists now residing in Canada, alongside John Gollings, acclaimed Australian photographer who has travelled the world documenting dead & destroyed cities.
Juxtaposing Gollings' alienating landscapes are Rashida and Najmidin’s evocative portrayals of human vulnerability and dignity. This exhibition offers timely commentary on the fragility life, shifting landscapes and environmental destruction caused by climate change.
Eli and Azezi have had a public retrospective at National Art Museum of China, the largest public gallery in Beijing as well as over 50 works acquired by public galleries across China. The NGV has obtained 71 of Golling’s photographs over his career as well as the NGA retaining 145. These artists have been in instrumental in their respective fields, commenting the beauty yet agony of cultural worlds and the human condition.
